With so many promoted methods on how to get rid of moles, it can be very hard knowing which among them work and which among them are mere sales gimmicks. The damage that they impose on yards and plants can, however, be very frustrating which moves homeowners to try just about anything to get rid of them.

There is a certain anecdotal method that will tell you to get rid of the grubs that these critters feed on. The problem is that, while it might move the moles to leave your lawn temporarily, it will also allow the balance of the ecosystem of your garden to suffer. Similarly, getting rid of the earthworms that they enjoy feasting on will result with lawn soil that lacks aeration. In the end, the roots of your plants will have a hard time growing and spreading.

All of the things have their own eco-friendly equivalent and it seems like the methods on how to get rid of ground moles are not exempted. One of these is using live traps to capture the moles and then send them in dense areas where they are not able to bother home lawns with their damaging digging activities. There are so many kinds of live traps that are available in many garden supply stores that are inexpensive and are very easy to set up.

Mixed with all these mole control methods are techniques that do not work. There is one says that flooding their burrows will get rid of them. This is done by inserting a garden hose into their tunnel and filling it with water. However, this will also cause them to relocate in a place nearby. Using poison gas is also a fallacy. Plus, it can poison your soil and make you ill. Digging up your garden will also not work. It might seem like you have gotten rid of them but they are bound to come back one you have fixed your garden.

A very popular home remedy on how to get rid of moles is to use a solution that has castor oil. When mixed with liquid soap, cayenne pepper, and water; the resulting concoction stings when the moles come into contact with it. This is merely sprayed all over your lawn and plants for it to work its repelling power. Planting skunk lilies is also a good mole repellant. Aside from moles, the smell of their roots also keeps away possums and squirrels.

Knowing the most effective way for you to get rid of ground moles only gets half the work done. You will have to do the grueling and challenging feat of permanently keeping them out of your lawns. One way to do this is by using pesticides to lessen the population of grubs in your garden. When the mole sees that there is less food in a certain area, it will most likely choose another place to reside in.

In summary, getting rid of the ground moles is the first step. What comes next is to continuously treat your garden so that they will keep out of your lawn for good. The only thing that you need to make sure when you are treating your lawn is that it should not extend to your plants as this could be damaging to them. There are no exact ways on how to get rid of ground moles so you will have to do trial and error with all these tactics.

Once you start seeing those raised hedges and dirt mounds on your lawns, then it might be the right time for you to come up with ways on how to get rid of moles. Looking at these very small creatures, one might think that they should only be able to give very small damage to your environment. However, once they have thrived and dug their tunnels in your lawn, you will soon realize just how damaging they can be to your plants and on the aesthetic appeal of your grounds.

These insectivores constantly dig through soil feast on insects, worms, and grubs that are living in such areas. If your lawn possesses soil that is moist and sandy, then it could potentially be a very good candidate to become a mole’s home. These small mammals spend most of their time digging in search for food and will only rarely venture out of their burrows as they are highly threatened by anything that has high traffic. If they ever do go out, it would most likely be during the warm and wet months of the year.

If you are someone who knows a thing or two about moles and their ways of living, then you should have some idea as to how to get rid of moles in the most effective ways there is. There are so many ways to get rid of moles. While the barbaric ways will surely eradicate them, a number of homeowners might not find them very pleasing methods to use. It is a good thing that there are quite a number of nonlethal approaches that will also work to rid your lawns of moles.

Before everything else, you first need to figure out which among the numerous tunnels in your lawn are still being used by the mole. It would be of no use to set up traps in places where are mole will not pass through. A way to determine this is to step on every tunnel that you see. Within 24 hours, any of those tunnels that seemed to have been repaired are bound to be what they call as “active tunnels”. These are the places where you will execute your mole eradication methods.

On these identified active tunnels, you will not proceed in setting up whatever way you have decided to sue on how to get rid of moles. If you intend to use traps, carefully dig a hole at the bottom of the tunnel where you will deposit the jar that will contain the trapped mole. Make sure that you carefully cover up the hole that you have created so the mole does not suspect foul play.

If you would not want to sit and wait for a trap mole, you can immediately get them out of hiding by flooding their burrows with use of a garden hose. All that you need to do is insert the hose through a tunnel and wait a few minutes until the moles start scrambling out to save their selves from drowning.

You can also build barriers around areas in your lawn that you especially want moles to stay away from. You can use mesh, gravel, or concrete to block them and direct them in another area where they can do their digging horrors. Although purely nonlethal, this method on how to get rid of moles will be a very effective way to keep them out of your lawn.

These days, homeowners are given a wide array of methods that are geared to getting rid of moles in yard. The extent of the damage that they give with the non-stop digging is not something that should not be taken lightly. All the landscaping expenses are thrown to waste along with all the efforts of planting and tending for the various plants in the lawn. Here are some of the most common methods used today.

In spite of the creation of modern methods for mole eradication, the good old mole traps are still deemed the most effective technique. Installing them, though, can be very tricky as you have to ensure that it is positioned in an active tunnel and be setup with the least traces of human manipulation possible to trick the mole into falling into it. Traps generally come in two types: killing traps and live traps.

Getting rid of moles in yard by taking away their food is also effective. Thee very main reason why a mole would desire to create its network of tunnels underneath a certain lawn is because it has seen an abundance of insects, worms, and grubs to feast. There are pesticides in the market today that will effectively kill these underground dwellers. If your yard is free or sparse in its supply of mole food, these diggers will be forced to abandon your lawn and search for richer soils.

You can rid your mole of moles with an excess or shortage of water. Try flooding their burrows to force them out of hiding and send them someplace else to wreak havoc. Insert a garden hose through one of the tunnels and fill it up with water. On the other hand, you can also deprive them of water by watering your lawn as less frequent as you can. When the soil is dry, they will have a hard time digging and looking for food so they will have to evacuate.

There are plants that possess natural mole repelling properties. Two of the most popular are marigolds and daffodils. Plant them in those places where you would not want a mole to dig. Planting them will not necessarily ensure the effect of completely getting rid of moles in yard but these beautiful blossoms should keep moles away from those areas where they are planted.

Quite a number of home remedies are also being utilized. So many people give these remedies a try before venturing out to other methods since they are very cheap and are easily available in the typical home. Castor oil, Cayenne pepper, onion bulbs, and even Jalapeno peppers are just a few of the numerous home fixes for mole control.

If you have tried every possible method that you have researched on to no avail, then it might be time to hire the expert services of a company that specializes in mole control and eradication. You will have to pay them but at least you will not have to go through the frustrating coexistence ever again. You just have to make sure that you are investing your money in a reputable company with proven techniques and expertise in getting rid of moles in yard.

There are various killing traps are available in the market today that would have been perfect for ground moles removal. The problem is that there are quite a number of homeowners who have issues with such a barbaric way of getting rid of these seemingly lawn pests. These people believe that, despite the big damage that moles bring in their lawns and plants, these creatures do not deserve to die in such a horrible way.

It is a good thing that these homeowners have many more options that will merely get rid of the moles in the lawn and not actually kill them. These mostly homemade solutions will merely repel the moles and send them somewhere far so they cannot hurt your lawn and your plants. A big plus with these approaches is that most of the materials needed are merely found in your homes so there really is nothing much to shell out money for.

Daffodils and marigolds in your garden will give it some added beauty but many people are not aware that it unknowingly repels moles. Their smell seems to be something that these creatures despise so the moles will do just about anything to stay away from them. Although it is not a guarantee that planting these flowers will get rid of the moles, at least the areas where they are planted in is a place that is free from moles.

Water is one very effective element for ground moles removal. When you water your lawn, worms go up to the surface to enjoy the moist soil. And since worms are one of the favorite food of moles, these diggers will naturally follow them in the surface and dig for them. You can get moles to leave your lawn by watering less frequently your lawn. Only pour enough on your plants and flowers and leave the rest to dry out (but not to the point of dying). This should deprive the mole of their favorite grub.

Castor oil can also be used as an effective mole repellant. Create a castor concentrate by mixing 6 ounces of castor oil with 2 tablespoons of soap. You can either spray this directly to the plants and holes or mix it with water to pour on the plants and holes. Note that an ounce of the concentrate should be mixed with a gallon of water. Reapply the concentrate or solution after 2 days and after it rains.

Households that have a pet cat already have a ground moles removal method in the form of their pet. Cats are natural predators of moles and the latter will do what it possibly can to avoid getting eaten. However, you do not have to get your cat to chase the mole. Instead, dump cat litter inside the holes dug by the moles. This should send them running away from your yard.

If none of these homemade repellants seemed to work their magic at getting those moles away from your precious lawn, it might be high time for you to spend some money on something that just might work. Solar or battery operated vibrating snakes will definitely scare the moles out of your lawn. This ground moles removal technique will act on their weakness to face and fight their prey as they would rather escape any threats of some sort.

Over the years, a variety of moles in yard removal approaches have been formulated by so many people. All of them offer promises of relief from these pesky diggers. In the hopes of eliminating or lessening the cost of removing moles, a number of cheap and even free home remedies have surfaces. However, with such a sheer number of remedies, only a handful of them work. Note that most of these do not give lasting results.

A mixture of castor oil, oil-based soap, water, and cayenne pepper is believed to cause the skin of the mole to burn and itch. This, in turn, will cause them to flee the place. There are exactly no define measurements for each of the ingredients but a common recipe calls for an ounce of castor oil, a cup of oil-based soap, a quarter of a cup of cayenne pepper, and 3 cups of water. This mixture is then sprayed all throughout the yard.

Another common household item used to repel moles is mothballs. These tiny white spheres are deposited inside the tunnels that were created by the moles where they should be able to work their magic in scaring off these mammals with its repugnant smell. When deposited plentifully and widespread, it should discourage the moles from digging more tunnels in your yard.

The plants daffodils, marigolds, alliums, and fritillarias have been known to repel moles. If you enjoy gardening, tending for these plants should not be a problem. Mole plant and castor beans are just as effective mole repellents as the aforementioned plants. However, they are not recommended to be grown in homes that have children and pets as they are highly dangerous when ingested. Take note that they will only keep a mole away from your yard and will not work for moles in yard removal.

The super spicy jalapeno pepper also shows to have repelling powers for moles; this is what a study in the Oregon State University Extension Office has found out. What you only need to do is to dig up small holes near mole tunnels where fresh jalapenos are then deposited. It should already then work its magic at keeping moles at bay.

Animal lovers should have fewer problems with warding off moles. Dogs are not exactly in the best of terms with the moles so the man’s best friend should do the best that they can to get a hold of these pests. Dogs are very good diggers so this should not be a problem. Cats should also be able to capture them with ease. With their excellent hunting skills, they should have no problem with moles in yard removal.

A rather extreme home remedy to fend off moles would be to force them out of their underground hideout by flushing water in it. Choose one or two mole holes in your yard and cover it with an inverted big jar. Cover all the other ones with heavy plywood. Insert a long hose through a solely open hole and turn on the water supply. Within 10 minutes, you should find a mole trapped in the jars that you can relocate to another place far away from yours. For a couple of weeks, do this moles in yard removal remedy several times.

With their unique abilities at transforming any beautifully landscaped yard into the biggest mess, many homeowners are willing to try just about anything to get rid of moles. They create numerous tunnels in search for food and unknowingly place a big toll not only in the physical appearance of your yard, but also on your plants.

Any method to get rid of moles starts with determining which of the many tunnels are active. Moles create a multitude of tunnels and only use a few of them. It is important that you go through this step so that you can install whatever gadget or contraption in a place where a mole will surely drop by. Otherwise, all your efforts will not create the desired effect which is the control and eradication of the moles.

If you stand by your beliefs that every life is precious and killing a mole is not an option for you, you can fashion a live trap with the use of a big jar or can and fit it into an active tunnel. Make sure that you carefully place the trap in a way that it creates the littlest disruption the tunnel as possible. Camouflage the jar or can so that it becomes unmistakably part of the tunnel. Check the trap at least once or twice a day. If it captures a mole, you can simply take and release this creature far from your place.

On the other side of the spectrum, if you think that moles do not deserve to be treated too nicely, the market today offers a variety of traps that can inflict harm on these creatures in any way possible. Traps can chop, choke, and impale them, very fitting techniques as payment for what they have done to your yard and plants.

You can also flood the tunnels of the moles to force them to come out of hiding. Find an active tunnel and fill it with water by inserting a hose in it. The reason why very few resort to this method to get rid of moles is because you will have to run after the moles as they go out of the tunnels. This is probably only something that can be done by agile people.

If you would rather do preventive measures than waste time and energy to stop these nasty critters, create a protective barrier instead. Fashion one out of mesh wire or concrete that is at least 2 feet in height and place it beneath the earth’s surface. The problem with this is that you can only create a barrier for a small area at a time.

With all mole control options presented, the most effective will have to be the use of traps. And among the two kinds of traps, the best one is the killing trap. With the use of live traps, you are not exactly eradicating the problem. The mole that you released someplace else could inflict harm to another house yard or, worse, could go back to yours. To save everyone the potential problems that they can cause, it just might be justifiable to get rid of moles with killing traps.

How to catch a mole and permanently eliminate it from the yard? This million dollar question has plagued the minds of many homeowners who wake up day after day to find their beautifully landscaped yards turning into piles of soil. There are currently so many remedies that promise the complete eradication of moles, but yet fail to deliver the desired results. Some of the most common approaches to get rid of moles include the use of Castor oil, bleach, red pepper and camphor.

These mammals become highly visible during the spring season. During this time of the year, the grounds are a little softer which brings earthworms and some insects near the surface of the ground. This drives the moles to also stay near the topsoil where they can feast on their food. During the colder months, moles stay and dig deeper under the ground to scour for food.

With all the ways of how to catch a mole, the one that has proven to be the most effective is trapping. Mole traps are installed right into the tunnels and capture the unsuspecting mole that comes into contact with them. Mole traps generally come in two types. The first one, called a harpoon trap, is installed near the surface of the ground. Deeper tunnels call for scissor traps.

A trap is deemed useless if it is not installed in a tunnel that is active. Moles can dig a multitude of tunnels on a daily basis for the purposes of finding food and even as mere passageways. Some of these tunnels are just used once and then never used again. This is why is it important that you determine which ones are active mole tunnels before setting your trap.

One simple way to determine this is to disrupt all of the tunnels that are currently in your yard by flattening or smoothing them. After 24 hours, recheck each of the tunnels. Those that have been reformed are most likely the active tunnels where you can successfully install your traps.

It might not look like it but using a harpoon trap to catch a mole is relatively easy; if you get a few important things right. Setting it up comes easy once you have found the perfect tunnel to install it in. Clean the trap from any dirt and ensure that its spring mechanism is working by opening and closing it several times. Position the trap in a way that it is perpendicular to the tunnel by aligning its ground spikes. Slide it on the soil, pull back the harpoon blades, and slide it into place. You will then just leave it there and wait for a mole for approximately 24 to 48 hours.

If you intend to trap moles from tunnels deeper below the soil surface, you will have a better chance at success with the use of a scissor trap. Make sure that you carefully insert the trap into the hole as it to prevent it from being triggered prematurely. learning how to catch a mole with this apparatus may also require you to become familiar with mole bait products.

There are few things more frustrating than dealing with moles in your yard. These small critters can create absolute mayhem in your well-kept yard or garden. Moles will uproot plans, create mole holes, mounds of dirt and subsurface trails throughout your lawn spaces. They feast on the worms, grubs and other helpful insects residing underneath the surface and once they have moved in, it’s really no small feat to evict them.

So first of all, why use traps over other solutions?…

Using solutions that aim to rid your yard of insects such as the very grubs and worms that moles feed on, is one method that is commonly suggested. However, there are steep consequences. The chemicals used to kill these insects will create a toxic environment in your soil and insects, grubs and worms are a necessary part of your yard’s ecosystem, keeping the soil rich and oxgenated.

If your are trying to keep moles out your garden spaces, it will be even more important not to contaminate your soil with harmful chemicals since they will end up in anything you grow. In addition, it is a known fact among pest control professionals that traps are a lot more effective than anything else on the market when it comes to ridding your yard of moles permanently.

It really just becomes a matter of the Right Trap, Used Properly…

There are 4 main types of mole traps available:

Choker Loop traps are the same snap traps regularly put to use for mice and rats. They’re placed within a mole’s tunnel and they exterminate the pests by snapping on and tightening around them to kill them. Choker mole traps are readily available and inexpensive.

Harpoon style traps make full use of long sharp spikes that stick on the mole, killing it as it tries to pass. They’re best employed in clay or sandy soil as rocks along with others objects can catch below the spike, destroying the trap and making the mole continue on its merry romp.

Scissor traps are another option to the harpoon style traps and may also cope with a wider type of soils and terrain. They prevent moles from passing by getting hold of them with 2 curved scissor-like blades. One benefit is that you can easily determine if a mole has been trapped without the need to dig out the trap first. They are also one of the most simple mole traps to set.

For a more gentle option, pitfall traps can be obtained. Pitfall traps utilize a capture and release design. They use a big plastic tube-like box that these moles fall into when it passes over the top. These require more work to set and are more expensive compared to the lethal alternatives. The may be required if you live in a state that has outlawed lethal mole traps.

If trapping the furry creatures may not sound appealing, or perhaps sounds like too much work, consider that the alternative will most likely be a lot more yard damage, frustration and money wasted on gimmicky products, repellents and ultrasonic mole chaser devices. The pest control industry has created a lot of such alternatives because it can be difficult to get results using traps if you don’t know what you are doing. However, for those who know the proper techniques and understand which trap to use and why…

Trapping and ridding your yard of moles can be a very simple and inexpensive task…

You can learn the exact simple method that I, and thousands of other homeowners have been using to successfully trap and eliminate moles from their yards using mole traps. I will show you the best mole trap to use and exactly how to use it.
